We’re Just Like You
By name & by nature... we'll be your mate.
We live on the coast of South Australia
but we relate and connect with friends and clients Australia-wide.

“Sort Your Budget, Sort Your Life” is so true.
We See it, We Teach it, We Live It…
Our philosophy that financial wellness extends far beyond just managing money—it’s about creating overall life satisfaction and relationship harmony.
We’d love to hear from you…
We are Andrew and Alyssa Mates, a husband-and-wife team with a background in property and finance. By understanding the power of knowing our numbers we became completely debt and mortgage-free in 2022 at the age of 39 years old and now enjoy living life in beautiful Normanville, South Australia.
Andrew left a high-stress corporate career to pursue a career in finance and became a mortgage broker with Aussie back in 2012, but during his time he quickly realised that his passion was helping people eliminate debt, not accumulate it, and promptly left the industry.
Alyssa, a property enthusiast, worked alongside Andrew whilst they developed their personal plan for property and cashflow which ended up becoming their personal finance system that provided clarity, structure, and a clear path to their personal financial freedom.
Since 2009, this system has guided our decisions personally, and since 2018 we have been teaching others our methodologies of how to create their own path to financial independence by providing clarity on their current financial position, future goals, and helping them to implement steps required to achieve them—whether for household budgets, business finances, or preparing to borrow or invest.
Our approach is tailored to you, practical in nature, and focused on your self-reliance, without any third-party apps or subscriptions. We deliver an empathetic, fun, and exciting approach to budgets to ensure you receive your tailor-made plan that works for you – unique to your own circumstances and designed for your success.
If you’re ready to take charge of your financial future, reach out. This could be the most impactful step toward achieving your goals.
Yesterday's budget announcement has stirred the pot.
And right now, investors across the country are doing one of two things.
They're either adjusting their plan with confidence, or they're frozen.
Not because anything catastrophic happened. But because they didn't have a clear enough plan to begin with.
I see it every week. Amazing people on good incomes with real goals surrounded by great professionals – brokers, accountants, financial planners, buyers agents – all doing their job well.
But they remain stuck. Unsure of the next move. Not confident and sitting in that in-between space.
The stress of that indecision? It creeps into relationships. It stalls decisions. It costs time, money, and confidence.
All the right professionals in the world can't fully do their job if the foundational layer isn't in place first.
The broker needs to know the budget is solid.
The accountant needs to know the cashflow is managed.
The planner needs to know the goals are clear.
The buyers agent needs to know the client is actually ready to move.
That foundational layer – the overarching financial strategy that sits underneath the entire investor journey – that’s exactly what we do.
We're not here to replace anyone in that ecosystem. We're here to make everyone in it more effective.
When an investor knows their numbers, owns their plan, and has complete clarity on their next step, everything changes. The broker closes faster. The buyers agent can act. The accountant has something real to work with. The planner can plan.
And the investor? They move.
If you're an investor feeling the noise of the last 24 hours, or a professional watching your clients hesitate – let's talk.
If you're a finance professional watching your clients hesitate or wanting to collaborate at a higher level – let's talk.

No one is coming to fix your money, your habits, or your life for you.
But the good news?
No one is stopping you either.
You don’t need permission.
You need a decision.
Change doesn’t begin with a windfall, a new year, or “when things settle down”.
It begins the moment you choose to take ownership – individually and together.

Just received a 5 star review from a wonderful client.
What makes this review so much more special, is that it came from a mortgage broker who could have just refinanced their client to a higher loan amount, taken their commission payment, and move onto the next deal. Instead, they recognised their client was facing an overspending problem and sought help.
When mortgage brokers think outside the box and collaborate - they win, and their clients win. It's as simple as that.

If you’re a parent, here’s a truth that hits deep: 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴…
They are learning more about money from how you behave than from anything you tell them.
They don’t need “fun parents” who avoid responsibility.
They need adults who model balance, boundaries, planning, and emotional resilience.
Being the ‘adult’ your life needs isn’t just for you, it shapes their future too.
