Tomorrow I’m 41. 41 years young. No longer a spring chicken.
I’m grateful.
I’m grateful for the experiences I have learned over the years. I’m grateful for all the lessons, good and bad, as they have allowed me to become the man that I am today.
When I started Adelaide Budgeting in January 2018 I was 35. Having experience in many roles throughout my 20’s and early 30’s in leadership and client service I had somewhat of an idea what it was like to help people and to be of service. I also had a lot of understanding of what needed to be done to be successful in business.
What I didn’t realise in those early years is just how hard it would be along the way. For every win there were what felt like a hundred push backs. For every yes, a thousand no’s. For every open door a thousand closed doors.
Starting a business from scratch with zero experience, zero reputation, zero trust (and a massive lack of it in our industry) and having to continue proving yourself day after day after day can take it’s toll.
For the 6 birthdays I have had in business each have been a milestone. Every 12 month window felt like years as the knowledge gained and the growth I had experienced within myself was exponential.
Over the years I have realised that being in business is unlike any other experience a person can have. Being in business ages you, but also makes you wiser, smarter and more strategic.
6 years on we are so grateful for every single accomplishment.
Through our amazing client experiences we have developed a positive reputation.
Through our amazing network we have become the go-to in the budget space.
Through our mentors we raised above the people we once were to become better.
From being unsure whether this silly little budgeting idea would take flight or not, we pushed forward each day. Over time we became confident, we became competent, and we learned how to replicate our results and how to deliver the best possible client experience.
We are grateful for where we are today.
6 years on, 3 accountants later, a national re-branding and a ton of fun along the way it’s hard to say we have arrived because we haven’t. The goal posts for our dreams keep getting bigger and better, and we are only in this position due to the support of our community and our customers.
There is still plenty more to do.
To all of you that have supported us over the previous 5.5 years, and for my own personal milestone of 6 birthdays in business I want to sincerely thank you.
Without you we do not exist.
Thank you for all allowing us to continue being of service to you all, and for allowing us to do the work we love.

In the picture above (taken at my 39th birthday celebrations), I had no idea just what the universe had in store for the coming 2 years.
The growth that I have experienced, the love and the loss over the years and the personal transformation have been like nothing before.
For that I am so grateful.
